For a residential project in New Jersey, we designed gates measuring 4.5’ H x 4.5’ W x 3” thick, each weighing around 100 lbs. Due to the gate’s heavy structure, we needed a hinge that could handle the weight, close smoothly without slamming, and complement the dark bronze finish (695). We need a solution of wooden fence gate hinges featuring a hydraulic self closing system that provides strength, safety, and style for long-lasting performance.
For a 3" thick wooden gate, the recommended hinge is the K51M-660, a 6" x 6" full-mortise closer hinge designed for door thicknesses of 2-¼" and above. The architect requested a finish that complements the wood, so Finish Code 695 (Dark Bronze) was selected.
